NYC again beats Italy for world’s best pizza at this location

Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco got sixth location, and I Tigli in San Bonifacio, Italy, came in 7th. Completing the Top 10 were Sartoria Panatieri in Barcelona, Spain; 50 Kalò in Naples; and Seu Pizza Illuminati in Rome.

“In a country always accustomed to placing everything on pizza, Anthony proposes only the purest practice in toppings, with extraordinary high quality components,” the award website reviews, noting proprietor Anthony Mangieri is known for marinara, Margherita and Cosacca styles, plus a turning pie.

In 2014, Naples’ Diego Vitagliano and Caserta’s I Masanielli tied for initially, with Una Pizza Napoletana in second place. This year, both Italian establishments connected again, this time in 2nd area, behind the Lower East Side champ.

Locally, Ribalta near Union Square was No. 19, Don Antonio in Hell’s Cooking area was ranked 30th and L’Industrie of Brooklyn– awarded as the very best slice in the US last June by the company– took the 80th port.
