El Moro Churrería Opens Second SoCal Location in Echo Park

El Moro Churrería Opens Second SoCal Location in Echo Park

Mexico City's iconic El Moro churrería debuts its second Southern California outpost in Echo Park, offering freshly-fried churros, a variety of dipping sauces, tortas, and the unique consuelo. Grandson of founder cites strong demand.

After much anticipation, Mexico City’s iconic churrería El Moro opens up in Mirror Park on January 29. El Moro’s trademark blue-and-white logo design now beams brilliantly over Sunset Blvd and Laveta Terrace in the long time Patra Burgers room, which underwent a large reconstruction over the last 8 months. El Moro Mirror Park is the second Southern California place for the nearly 100-year-old churrería, which debuted its very first united state electrical outlet in Costa Mesa’s Mercado González in 2023.

    Menu & Sweet Offerings

At Mirror Park’s El Moro, personnel will box up freshly-fried, cinnamon-dusted churros individually or in boxes of four or one dozen, in addition to the mini-sized range. The food selection consists of a dipping triad from which one can pick hazelnut, chocolate and delicious chocolate, cajeta, compressed milk, or a seasonal taste. Al priest and asada tortas also feature on the food selection, along with El Moro’s spiraled churro gelato sandwich, known as the consuelo. Consume choices include aguas frescas, milkshake or smoothies, café de olla, and Mexican iced lattes in flavors like lechero, horchata, or churro. Pick from the Oaxaqueno, French, or a Mexicano hot chocolate made with cacao imported from Mexico.

Santiago Iriarte, a co-owner and grand son of El Moro’s founder, formerly informed Eater that the overwhelming feedback to his Costa Mesa place offered him and his team the gas to push for one more outpost. “Afterwards primary step in Mercado Gonzalez, we were certain that our experience could be shared by a lot of individuals in Echo Park too,” he states.

    Opening Hours & Location

Opening day on January 29 starts at 5 p.m. (complimentary churros for the very first 50 guests, and those acquiring a beverage will certainly receive 2 cost-free churros). El Moro’s long-term hours are Sunday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., and till 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday at 1524 W. Sundown Boulevard, Echo Park, CA, 90026.

Though initially slated to open in September 2025, El Moro’s opening was pressed back due to construction and allowing hold-ups. Crews broadened the former hamburger stand right into a new 1,500-square-foot dining establishment created by Nacho Cadena of Cadena Concept Style (founder of Cadena Concept Style). A mural by Los Angeles-based artist Ozzie Juarez remains on the side of the building, while the interior seats 30, with the outdoor patio accommodating 40.
